Training People to Help People at Home and Around the World

    New Team

God has brought two great marriage and family biblical counselors to join the Living Foundation Ministries (L.F.M.) training team this September in the Philippines.

Roger Daum brings over 30 years of pastoral and marriage experience, plus extensive training with L.F.M. and John Regier of Caring for the Heart Ministries.  He is currently director of Restoration Ministries in Cozad, Nebraska. Roger served on the L.F.M. team in Puebla, Mexico in January ’07 and did an outstanding job of training trainers.

Jerry Purviance also brings both pastoral experience and major counseling experience having served years as dean of students and a faculty member of Calvary Bible College. He is now a full time counselor in Kansas City, Missouri.  He, too, is a terrific trainer of trainers.

Florina Marcellus served on the L.F.M. training team both in Puebla, Mexico and China in January and February ’07.  She is a graduate of Calvary Bible College with a major in missions and a minor in music. She used her beautiful voice and music training well in both Mexico and China. She was further mentored by L.F.M.’s lead counselor, Shelia Benzon, and was able to utilize that extensive training with women in Mexico and China.

    New Focus

We e-mailed the new marriage and family topics to our Philippine representatives and they are excited with the new emphases for training this fall.  Last year they asked us to add that material to the basic training that they are now teaching. Both the basic and marriage and family topics will be covered in various forms depending which of the six venues we are in.

    Marriage and Family Topics

    • How to Identify Damaged Relationships (symptoms, case histories, characteristics of a hurting marriage)
    • How to Identify the Sources of Damaging Behavior and Attitudinal Patterns (wounded hearts, negative emotions, core beliefs, entitlements)
    • How to Identify the Historical Source Behind a Hurtful Pattern (events done to them, by them or around them)
    • A Biblical Approach to Healing Damaged Marriage Relationships (forgiveness, emotional and spiritual freedom , circles of responsibility)
    • How to Grow and Nurture a Healing, Healthy Marriage
    • What are the Basics in Child Nurturing, Parenting, and Discipline?

The teaching notes for these topics should be available on our website (Lfmtools.org) for free downloading in late August.  All the basic notes are already there under “Training.”

    New Venues

Word has spread throughout the southern island of Mindanao, Philippines of the practical value of these biblically based seminars.  Please begin to pray for the huge undertaking of these six training seminars.

Sept. 10-11 Panabo City (200 conferees)

    Sept. 14-15 Digos City (350)

Sept. 17-18 General Santos City (200) This is right in the heart of a Muslim area. Our host director has a brother who is a leader in the guerilla movement in the area. Please pray.

    Sept. 20-27 Davao City – teachers & parents (100)

Sept. 24-28 Davao City Bible College and Seminary students, week long training (150)

October 3-5 Lligan City (500) City and ministry leaders are going all out to promote this event. Some attended the past training.

Four Sundays in September the Living Foundation Ministries team will be divided up to share in churches.

    New Challenge

We thought the trainings in the Philippines in ’06 were a big step of faith and they were. God used many of you to cover us in prayer, encouragement and financial investment. Our Philippine outreach in Sept. is an even bigger challenge. L.F.M. is responsible for the six seminar facilities, the sound systems, promotion, lunches, seminar manuals and copies of I Should Forgive, But..., housing and transportation for the Filipino and US teams. Six local directors have to enlist many volunteers for promotion, registration, preparation of hundreds lunches and some transportation and housing.

This is a massive undertaking to train and develop over a thousand biblically based counselors. Pray for Pastor Joel and Liza Martinez, our L.F.M. directors in the Philippines who are responsible for the six seminar committees. They did an outstanding job coordinating our Philippine seminars the past two years. They will also team teach with us along with Filipino team members Ric and Linda Labos. Both couples will be learning the new material in preparation to train others.

    Mission Investment Opportunity

The US team members are responsible to raise support for their travel, food and housing. Above that is the $26,000 to conduct the six seminars. We share this enormous faith investment opportunity as a prayer target with our Living Foundation Ministries’ friends.

    No Debtor

Last August I quietly sat on my deck a little bummed that we were about $5,000 short to cover our training outreach in the Philippines and China. I found myself upset that God hadn’t come through to cover it when we were obeying Him to make disciples of all nations. (I hate to confess this.)  I had no more framed that thought when Linda said I had a long distance phone call. A friend shared that she was the executrix of her dad’s estate and just wanted to alert me that in the next few days a check for $5,000 from his estate would be coming. I was thrilled yet chagrined. I struggled to share with her what I had just complained about to God. Was I ever embarrassed and ashamed and rightfully so. I profusely thanked her and sheepishly returned to the deck to finish my quiet time.      I could hardly lift my eyes up to God.  It was as if He said to me “Son, I’ll never be in debt to you for obeying Me.”  Rebuked, humbled, chastened and misty eyed, I wondered to myself, “Will I ever learn?”

I don’t know who God is going to encourage investing in this challenge, but on behalf of the hundreds of fellow believers in Asia we share their heartfelt thanks in advance.

We will be sending a detailed prayer journal of when, where and what we will be doing for the month of Sept. in the Philippines. To receive it by e-mail, contact us at lfmlynch@yahoo.com.

    More Opportunities

    China

Plans are still on the drawing board for two weeks of training in Guangzhou, China, Oct. 7-20. We will share as much as we can without putting the planners in a difficult position with the authorities.

    Germany

Keith and Debbie Gandy, church planting missionaries in Germany, have asked us to come November 4-10 to train their people in how to deal with anger in relationships and to further train other church planters in their region. The details are in the planning stages. Thanks for praying.

How incredibly grateful we are to each of you who invest in this team of biblical trainers to the Philipines led by a guy who is both reproved and loved by our great God.

    Awed by His grace,

    Chuck and Linda Lynch

    Spreading World Wide

"It is great to read your reports and I rejoice at what God has done.  Praise the Lord!  Isn't it great to see people carrying on our work?  My Venezuelan co-worker called yesterday and is using your material.  She is going to where Francisco and Irma are to receive some of your material and she in turn will be teaching them the Victorious Christian Living material as well.  We also well be going to Sweden for a month of ministry to another group of people to teach counseling with my material as well as yours.  So, man, you are going, literally, all over the world!!! Keep up the good work!"

    Free in Jail

"I have given as I called 'massive counseling' for a hundred prisoners in jail in Margarita.  This activity lasted four days, and I spent four hours in each one.  Then I watched the videos from you while you were giving training here in Margarita, in order to see how much I have done.  The results 'excellent'!  Remember that most of those guys are there because of murder, but some of them said, 'I feel free,' after the seminars end.  I do that, because I know they do not get any orientation inside there, and is a way of training myself.  We still work in Coche and Margarita; restoring lives."

    Passing it on in Venezuela

"God knows that we would like to keep in touch with you all the time, so we can ask you for advice and share with you many things that God has been doing in the ministry and with your teaching.  We cannot express with words how great the blessing is.  Only God knows how much blessing and growing we have been experiencing in our marriage and as a family this year; since we have been teaching.  God has opened many doors in several cities, radio and on T.V.  Also, God helped us to come out of our 'Comfort Zone' and in sharing the grace that we received from Him with others."

    Life Change

"This is Bro. Lory Quintas, I was so overjoyed when I saw your message reply for me.  Really it's a blessing for me that spiritual breakthrough seminar since it really changed my perspective as far as Christian life is concerned.  It really changed my life.  You're really an apostle of God.  I was a Pentecostal for almost 20 years but I felt confused.  Sometimes specially I am vulnerable and seems I'm sinning.  It seems there's no hope and deliverance but when you conduct a seminar, my life has been restored."

    Seminar Manual

"...Thanks also for the teachings you have shared to us.  It change my whole life since I have applied that in my life.  Truly just to change our perspective in life we will be reaching in to a new realm of experience as far as my christian life is concerned.  I am continuing in my part time teaching.  I am now this semester teaching Religious Education/Values Ed. 102 and my reference is Your Manual, the Introduction to Biblical Counseling.  Thank you for sharing for us."

    Reproduced in Tribes

"We are now trained and teaching some of the tribes about the counseling ministry they really bless I give to the Lord the Glory thank you for your prayer."

    Seminar Manual

"My name is Laarni L. Razul a minister of the gospel of our Lord Jesus under New Life Ministries, Inc.  I attended the conference on Biblical counseling in Davoa City last August.  I was so blessed by your insight and presence.  I kept on reading the manual on Biblical Counseling always and I really get so many ideas and insights on how I can be used by God through counseling."

"You see the manual you gave us were very useful and applicable.  I've visited churches and I use the Manual from Biblical Counseling for helping their church growth.  Our head from the Dangerous Drug Board cannot wait to see you."

"You know I've been using the manual on Biblical Counseling in conducting lecture to the After Care counselee and they are effective.  I really praise God for meeting you.  God will bless you indeed and will enlarge your territory.  Last Friday I talked to the Director of the Chaplaincy Office here and he is excited to hear from you.  we are preparing for the Preliminary meeting for the committee on the seminar on Sept., 2007.  We are praying also for the success of the event that will take place here.  I know God is behind this project."

    Doctrinal Statement

"I really like the statement of faith and doctrine you sent me.  I sought to have this.  And finally I have it now.  I spread this and teach this in my pioneering work since I am an independent pastor.  And I count you as my mentor.  Thank you you really men of God."

    Resource for Pastors

"My husband and I is reading the books your team gave.  It was a great help for the Lord's ministry here.  My husband being the moderator of the Southern Baptist Churches in the province of Agusan del Sur (around 40 chruches) is using the book on his pastor's training every first Saturday of the month"

    Passing it On

"I am married with kids I was bless by your ministry because one day I have a problem and pastor Lumile share to me about how to handle from failure (seminar notes) and i recover from my failures hope you continue do the work of the Lord.  Dr. Chuck really the ministry you introduce in our country is a blessings to all the Filipinos.  GOD BLESS."

    Healing Touch

"I am Pastor Nestor Nacion, if you could remember, the only delegate from General Santos City.  Thank you for the spiritual blessing that I had experienced of that conference.  More to that was when you prayed and laid your hands on me,  I couldn't explain the permeating power that I felt.  I felt an overwhelming peace and joy.  My commitment to the Lord and His work was the more strengthened.  Thank you so much that God has used you for my life."

    Jesus’ Way in Mexico

“You were a HUGE blessing to our lives and our congregation.  You taught us Bible principles that are both simple and important.  We welcome people who love God as you do, who love the Bible as you do, and who love God’s people as you loved us.  We want you to know that we NEED you.  As church we are very interested in doing God’s job, God’s way.   And you taught us just that.  We look forward to have you again among us.  We will be praying for you and your WONDEFUL ministry.  We love you and thank you for every word you spoke Jesus’ way: truth in love.”

    It Works in Mexico

“I hope you arrived safely and that you are OK after such a tiring trip.  I’m still recovering!  Thanks for everything.  I enjoyed the conferences and the practice I had with your team.  We still study your materials and see what we can apply in the Center.

On Wednesday, during the support group that I have, a woman shared that she was always sad, without any joy in her life although her family is more or less OK.  I asked her about her parents and she said that her mother had died when she was seven.  The most traumatic experience was that her father made her look at the dead body and she was very frightened.  After she recounted her long story, I took her in prayer before Jesus and asked her to release her mother to Him and thank Him for having her mother in His arms and for taking her from the suffering her mother had with her borracho father.  It was beautiful; she had never had the chance to cry for her mother.  She started crying like a child, released her mother and asked God for forgiveness for being so rebellious, without contentment and angry all these years.  Afterwards, she said that nobody ever had helped her so much and that she felt free and very, very happy.  Wow!

Thanks for teaching us how to use the tools for counseling.”

    Web Blessing from Mexico

“I am so grateful for the spiritual growth lessons that I have received from you on the webpage.  God has used you to speak to my life. The article concerning how to give counsel to my adult children has been a huge blessing to me.  It came at the exact moment I needed it, now that my children are 20 and 24 years old.  Each article blesses me greatly.  I’m so grateful that you let the Lord use you to bless us.”

    Strength for the Weak

“I am here by expressing my sincere appreciation for the two emails you sent to me.  Much as I had anticipated, the receiving of these reading materials has been very exciting.   Thanks for keeping me at thy heart all this time!  I strongly believe that with the reading materials at hand and the almighty God keeping me safe from harm and granting me the ability to focus, I will be able to stay one up on what used to put me down.  From what you sent me, I will continue to learn a lot about myself.  I will discover my strength and try to survive my weakness.”

    Practical Applications

“We are especially thankful to you for your ministry.  I have always believed that the practical applications of what the Word teaches are much more important and relevant to the believers.  Through the use of toys and other objects, your practical theology breaks through cultural barriers and is extremely successful in helping to make the Truth easy to apply in life!  The combination of contributions from Florina and Linda, working with Chuck, makes a powerful and effective team.”

    Immediate Application

“After your visit here, we have had quite a few opportunities to use the materials you gave us and try to apply the principles in them.  Picture this:  I’m sitting next to the lake at Beijing University reading through and discussing with a young Chinese seminary graduate how to recover from a moral failure and be a blameless man (Living Foundation Ministries’ notes).  He now has a set of books which I hope he will continue to use in the future (copied at old BU.)  Or this:   Us teaching the principles for resolving conflict (Circles of Responsibility – Living Foundation Ministries’ notes) to a young Chinese Christian teacher and his wife (they have books also) and to their cell group, a group of young single people, how to choose a lifelong mate (Living Foundation Ministries’ notes).  We will probably return there to teach about married life as well.”

    From China to Kenya

“Thank you very much for that up-date and free access to your web tools.  God bless you for the work you are doing.  It is not in vain.  Personally, I was ministered to in a unique way by sharing with your husband during the Guangzhou retreat.  We have been using his notes as our study material in our campus Bible study and it has been really edifying.  The expanded resources in your website will go a long way to supplement what we took home from the retreat.  I wish to continue this study with my group back in Kenya when I return in July.”

    Thanks Much

“That was a wonderful gift for our family to attend your seminars.  So many people here in Guangzhou look forward to your coming back – you have made a lot of friends here (myself and my family included).  And I was telling so many people about your seminars.   Thank you so much for sharing your experience and knowledge with us, it’s absolutely precious.  God bless you for your prayers, we need them very much.”
